[from our own correspondent.] Nelson, May 28. Last night on Mr O'Oonor's motion for separate local Government for the Nelson Gold Fields, Mr Reid moved the follow'ng amendment to be forwarded to the Superintendent and the Governor— " That this Council recognises the desire of the inhabitants of the West Coast Gold Fields to possess, according to revenue and population, a fair and .equitable share in the administration of the public estate and expenditure, and with view to that object recommends that snch7 measures should be taken as may be deemed best calculated to secure uniformity in the Government of the Gold Fields, and full participation by the inhabitants in the advantages of popular representation of local interests and requirements, as contemplated by the constitutions of the Colony." The debate, which lasted for several I hours, wa3 adjourned till to-night.
