A steamer's light was visible last night, but whether it was the Albion or not there was no opportunity of ascertaining, as the Dispatch could not go out with safety. It is to be hoped if it is the mail steamer that she will wait a tide, though at the same time it is hardly likely that she will do so, being eabsidised specially for the conveyance of the Suez mail, and having n« time to lose. The vessel, whatever it was, fired no guns nor gave any indication of her identity. Later on, about midnight, a gun was fired, which renders it tolerably certain that the Albion was outside, whether tier's was the first light or not Finding the first gun was not attended to she fired a second with, we need hardly say, no result. The p. s. Dispatch had rather a poor time of it in the roadstead during the last couple of days. She went out on Monday evening to bring in the schooner Garibaldi, but was unable to return owing to the heavy fresh of Tuesday, and consequently stayed by her chargo till the afternoon tide of yesterday, when she broucht the schooner in without the least difficulty. The p.s. Charles Edward was reported to have been in Hokitika on Tuesday, but such was noc the case, and she is apparently in Westport. She is announced to' leave for Weßtport and Nelson, and will have quick dispatch after arrival. By a private telegram, we learn that the 8.8. Murray was to leave Nelson yesterday for the Coast, and she may therefore be looked for some time to-morrow. The schooner Garibaldi, formerly the p. s. Yarra, came in from Lyttelton yesterday, after a somewhat prolonged trip. 16 seems that her upward passage occupied seventeen and her return nineteen days. From Lyttelton to here the schooner encountered contrary winds, and had .to beat nearly all the way. She arrived off the bar on Sunday, bat had to pat to sea in consequence of the strong breeze that was blowing. She anchoredin the roadstead on Monday, and was brought in yesterday by the local tug. She has a full cargo oi produce.
