(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.)' - Nelson, May 14. A four hours' debate took placo last night on Mr Collins's motion, which expressed entire disapproval with the recent interference of Ministers in the West Coast public works, and approved of the recommendations of the Superintendent. Mr Kynnersley, seconded by Mr Reid, moved — "That all the words of the mo» tion be struck out, and that words be substituted to the effect that the main trunk roads through the Buller and Grey districts were highly judicious, and perfectly in accordance with the wishes and entire approbation of the publicresident there." Mr Collins's motion was struck out, but Mr Kynnersley's amendment was also negatived, none but Gold Fields members voting for it. A motion by Mr Luckie, expressing nothing, was agreed to. Mr Collins speech was chiefly an attac'c on the Premier, and the misrepre- | sentation of the General Government's action. He was replied to by Messrs Donne, Guinness, and O'Connor, showing that the interference had been on the other side. The Provincial Government and the country members are greatly dissatisfied at the money not being spent on the socalled Upper Buller.
