ANOTHER ARCTIC EXPEDITION.

Lady Franklin has once more appealed to Arctic voyagers to assist her in searching for the remains of her lamented husband. This admirable lady, who is now about sixty-seven years of age, was married to Sir John Franklin in 1826, and in 1836 accompanied him to Van Diemen's Land, on his appointment as Governor of that colony. It was in 1845 that Sir John Btarted his third and last expedition. In 1848 she offered rewards of L2OOO and L3OOO to any persons discovering or affording relief to the missing party, or making any extraordinary exertions with that object. In 1849 Mr Grinnell, of the United States, responded to the appeal which was made by her to the American Government. Lieutenant Ballot, who afterwards perished while serving on her Majesty's ship Phoenix, made one of the voyages of search. Several years later the present Sir Leopold M'Clintock mado another, and brought back proof that Sir John Franklin must have perished in 1847, and at the same time Sir Leopold convinced himself of the existence of the North-west Passage. This expedition was undertaken at the cost of Lady Franklin, but our Government voted LBOOO to Sir Leopold M'Clintock and the other officers and crew, of the Fox. and the Royal Geographical Society bestowed their gold medal on Lady Franklin in 1860, as a reward for her untiring researches. She now offers L2oooto anyone who will take to her, previous to the Ist January, 1875, the whole of the journals and other records of the expedition of the Erebus and the Terror, and which it is believed have been deposited near Point Victory or King William's Land by the survivors of the expedition in 1848. Two referees are appointed— Vice Admiral Collinson, and Sear-Admiral Inglefield, who has lately been appointed our Naval Attache" at Washington.
