The pj. Dispatch, as the 8.8. Waipara did not come up on the night's tide as expected, tendered the Tararua from Melbourne yesterday morning. The Dispatch had a heavy sea to encounter on going out, but gob through with a very few sprays, and after performing her mission returned safely to port. The Tararoa sailed for Nelson early yesterday forenoon, after being tendered by the local steamer. The s.B. Waipara came into port yesterday morning from Hokitika. She had, we are informed, a very rough time of it on thatbar whilst crossing, but got through without damage. She brings a large amount of cargo, some sixty tons, transhipped in the Hokitika roadstead from the Tararua for Greymouth. The Gleaner was the only trader announced at Melbourne as loading for this port when the Tararua left. The Gleaner arrived at Port Philip Heads on the 30th ApriL The s s Murray left Nelson on Wednesday for Anatori, having been chartered by a storekeeper there to convey goods. We understand that a small rush has set in to this new field, and that the diggers generally are doing j welL After landing ncr cargo, the Murray will return to .Nelson, and may be expected here shortly. j The Grafton steamer Culloden, which left for Richmond River lately, met with such heavy weather that the captain put back. She struck on the bar heavily, and has become ft total wreck. Passengers and crew were saved. Two more of the ships regularly trading between London and this port, namely, the Essex, of Messrs Money Wigram and Sons' line, and the Moravian, of Messrs George. Thompson, Jan., and Go's line, were telegraphed as having arrived at Port Phillip Heads yesterday forenoon. — Argus, May 2.
