Nelson, May 8. To-night Mr Arthur Collins moves — "That thi3 Council directs to place on record its entire disapproval of the interference to the Colonial Ministry in its expenditure of the Public Works Fund on the West Coast, and its approval of the Superintendent's plans." A warm discussion is expected. The Arnold and Ahaura Road Bill, on the principal of payment in land, is to; be introduced. For the same road L7OOO are placed on the Eatimatea, but the vote will probably be dependent on the Bill passing. Four thousand pounda'are proposed for the road from Owen to Inangahua, and LISOO for the improvement of the Buller road.
Fifty pounds in caah were found on board the Ocean Bird. The crew had cut away one mast and rigging, and it is supposed they escaped in the boat. It is proposed to search Stephen's Islaud for them. '

Wellington, May 8. Divine service will be held in all places f*f worship to-morrow (this day), in thanksgiving for the recovery of the Prince of Wales. The master and matron of the Karori Asylum are to be dismissed.
A private telegram dated Adelaide, 2nd inst., from the captain, of .the ship Mary Cumming, states " found Magnet's boat at sea, badly smashed." Port Chalmers, May 8. At the Heads there is a ship, supposed to be the Wild Deer, from Glasgow, "with immigrants. Auckland, May 8. Religious differences have arisen between the churches relative' to thanksgiving services. '
The officers commanding Volunteers are called on to parade on theoccesion at St. Paul's Episcopalian Church.
The Rev. Bruce, Presbyterian Minister, wrote to the Owns to protest against the distinction made on parade, and it is now'j ordered that volunteers may attend any church they please. Nelson, May 8. The Ocean Bird is now in Nelson harbor. The bedding and clothes are all out. The foremast appears to have been cut down about 13it above the deck. The ,steamer Murray reports seeing a dingy, painted white, three miles to the westward of the Sandspit Lighthouse. The crew are supposed to have left her.
The steamer Lady Barkley will arrive from Golden Bay to-morrow. New Plymouth, May 1. The Taranaki sailed aouth at 10 a.m. Mr Yogel was a passenger. Timaru, May 8. The Makikihi Hotel has been burnt down. It was insured in the New land Co. for L 650. Dunedin, May 8. Mr Reid introduced a Land Bill. ; A Committee has been appointed to confer with the Council of the University with a view to the establishment of medicine and law classes. A Committee of Inquiry has been appointed in re the Moa Flat sale. Mr Macassey moved for papers in re Judge Ward's appointment, which he contends was wholly unnecessary. The Escort brought 14,0790z.
