QUARTERLY LICENSING MEETING

The Quarterly Licensing Meeting was held yesterday, the Magistrates on the Bench being W. H. Revell, R.M., E. Wickes, and R. O. Reid, Esqs., J.P.'s. There was no opposition in any case to the applications, and the following licenses were grtmted :— O. Louis Seebeck, Seebeck's Hotel, Mawhera Quay. D. Sheedy, Brian Boru Hotel, Mawhera Quay. When this case was first called on the applicant was not present Subsequently he appeared and apologised for his absence, and the license was granted. John Harris, Cosmopolitan Hotel, Mawhera Quay. Granted. Sarah Taylor, White Horse Hotel, Mawhera Quay. Granted. Jas. Johnston, Melbourne Hotel, Mawhera Quay. Granted. H. Gilmer, Gilmer'a Hotel, Mawhera Quay. Granted. Edwin Ashton, Ashton's Family Hotel, Richmond Qnay and Boundary street. Granted. John Quintal, Tara'a Hall Hotel, Richmond Quay. Granted. Robert Card, Canadian Hotel, Richmond Quay. Granted. Mary Duggan, Dan O'Connell Hotel, Richmond Quay. Granted. Eugene Grand jean, Court House Hotel, Gresson street Granted. Mary Burchell, Hibernian Hotel, Boundary street. The Magistrates pointed out that the license the applicant at the present time held would not expire till September next, and that she consequently need not make application till that sitting, J. T. Fitzgerald applied for a license for a new house at the corner of Tainui and Murray streets, to be entitled Fitzgerald's

Suburban Hotel. The application was granted. . ' ; J. G. Morton's application for a license for the Oriental Hotel was granted. James Brimble, DuVe of Edinburgh, Hospital street. Granted, subject to certain repairs being effected. J. A. Whall, Royal Hotel, Richmond Quay. Granted. ' . Dennis Ryall applied for a license, but his application was not in accordance with the regulations, and was thrown out by the Bench. . This concluded the business, ,and the Bench then adjourned.
