Chjustohurch.—The Lyttdtm Times re. ports.*— The grain market has been very active daring ,the week, and large sales of wheat and flour are reported, at an advance on late quotations. This activity is consequent upon the late; Australian advances, which report a rise in Adelaide, Melbourne, and Sydney. Prime wheat is in excellent request at 4s 3d, and even 4s 4d has been paid in some instances. Barley also is wanted, and the malsters are giving 4s 6d for good samples. Prime heavy are quoted at Is 9d to Is lid; medium, Is 7d to Is Bd. In provisions, we notice an unproved inquiry for hams and bacon, at 7d to 74d. Batter and cheese are also wanted—the former at 7d to 7id and the latter at 4d.
