I Mr O'Driscoll, the contractor for the construction of the road between Greymouth and the Omotum^tu Creek, has already commenced his contract, some twenty men having yesterday broken ground in the vicinity of Mr Coe's brickyard. Council had recommended should be sold to the applicant at 10s per acre. The Board haviny received authority from Wellington Co sell the land on the terms recommended, were willing to grant the application, but it wa3 found to be requisite to have the land gazetted, and it was agreed to adjourn the sitting of the Board, at its rising, to Friday next, when the application will be dealt with, the land being gazetted in the interim. The Board also ordered that 5000 acres in the block applied for be thrown open for sale.
