TENDERS are invited for Felling Timber and Clearing a Horse Track along the blazed survey line of the proposed Greymouth and Reefton road, from the bridge site Arnold to the bridge site Ahaura, 94 miles (more or less). All timber to be felled axe high a width of oue chaiu, and all overhanging trees on each side of the chain throughout. _ . The clearing to be eight feet in width as nearly as possible in the centre of the felling throughout. The whole to be completed -within two months from date of acceptance of tender. Tenders to be one price for the whole work at per chain. Tenders addressed " The Inspector of Telegraphs, Christchurch," must be lodged with the officer in charge Telegraph, at. Westport, Greymouth, or Fokitika on or before the 20th April instant. All tenders must be accompatiied with a deposit of £20, which sum will be forfeited by any tenderer refusing to take up tbe contract if called upon to do so. Also, each tender must be endorsed by an engagement signed by two persons of substantial credit undertaking to become security in the amount of £200 for the due performance of the contract. TENDERS will be received at the General Post Office, Wellington, till the 22nd April next, for the performance of the undermentioned Mail Steam Service :— Between Picton and the Manukau, calling at Nelson and Taranaki ; and back to Picton, by the same route, once every four weeks. The names, tonnage, and horse-power of tbe vessels proposed to be employed to be stated, and the vessels to be approved by thevPostmaster-General, and to be surveyed by some person appointed by him whenever he may consider it necessary. A chief cabin passage, free of cost either for passage or victualling, to be provided when required for an officer of the Post Office Department. A proper and secure room to be provided for the mails ; and all mails to be landed and shipped by and at tbe expense of the contractor. . . The days and hows of arrival and departure at and from the various ports to be fixed by the Postmaster-General, ; who shall also have *he power of detaining the vessels, if necessary, for forty-eight hours after the days fixed for their departure from Manukau, without charge. For any other detention, the rate of demurrage per hour to be stated. The service to commence at Picton on the 12th May next. . ■ The services to be determined by either party giving three months' notice, in writing, to the other.
