TIN MINING IN NEW SOUTH WALES.
The Tenterfidd Staf speaks : of , the tin excitement as follows :— Nothing but tin is the topic of conversation— fresh samples' (and rich ones too) are being brought daily into town. On Friday a lot of ore •boat 21b weight was smelted in a rough manner from Mr Arbuoin's claim, and gave a nice cake |of tin over a pound vi weight. In this claim, out of six dishful* of stuff taken from different plaoes, we are informed, s£lb of ore was obtained. One jpiece of ruby tin weighs' 4oz, and othernch and large specimens have been shown. A shepherd has discovered the lode on the Maryland run, but its situation is not known to^the public. One thousand pounds art said to be asked for its position to be shown. Some very rich land has been discovered in Queensland, ne«r. y Qpntfpot, and a large area has Deen secured by various parties. It is stated that aome 411 acres have been taken up at Baliandean for copper mining — ttiisv fcowever/i awaits 'authentication. Blocks of tin-bearing country are being secured every day— so that the area of ground now taken up is something very considerable. Tin is said to have been found much nearer Tenterfield than Maryland, at Six-mile Swamp, where it is stated to have been obtained in every « vdvMuHf .dirt washed topttn Mi Fdcht's farm. together with the report of the. Mini. In the Stock and Share market a full amount of business was transacted. ! The notable of the day was, that the Elsmore Tin Company of Inverell, was floated in a ' couple of hours. The capital is 60,000 shares of LI, of which 20,000 were offered for the first time this morning, and by 11a.m. the provisional directors decided to' close the list, the applications then being in excess of the shares to be allotted. The Maitland Mercury's Sydney correspondent writes :— " The sharelist of the Elsmore Tin Company was opened at 9 o'clock this morning, and before 10 o'clock applications for 50,000 shares had been sent in, there being only 20,000 shares to be allotted." From the Sydney telegram in Thursday's Maitland Mercury : — " Two tin companies readily floated to workjdeppsits near Tenterfield/' Tuesday's Herald says :— " Some samples of tin ore from Bagot and Clarke's mine, Oban, exhibited on 'Change to-day^ attracted considerable'attention." A telegram to the Armidale Exptess on Friday evening last states :— " Two new tin mining companies having been proposed with 20,000 shares, all the latter were taken up in a few hours amid much excitement."'
