CAPTURE OF FORGED BANK OF IRELAND NOTES.
. An important arrest was made in Limerick on January 5. A young man of respectable appearance went into the restaurant of Mr O'Oonnell in that city, and had some refreshment, for which he tendered payment with what appeared to be a Bank of Ireland LI note. The shopkeeper, noticing something suspicious about the paper, examined it. The young man manifested a good deal of uneasiness, which induced the shopkeeper to send for the police. The note was found to be forged, and the young man, who gave the name of Williams, on being searched was found to have several bundles of notes of the same description in his possession. His lodgings were also searched, and in a portmanteau were found several more bundles of forged Bank of Ireland notes ; the total number represented nearly L 40,000, and are, no doubt, some of the same description as those which were announced to be in circulation a couple .of months ago. Williams has the appearance of being an American, and he has been in Limerick for the past few days spending money rather freely.
