[herald.] Very excellent stone has been struck in Hunt's claim, No. I north, Shiel's. ; Mr David Isaac's one of the earliest residents on the West Coast, ha 3 decided to commence business as an auctioneer in the Iriangahua district. We have much pleasure in announcing that crushing operations were to be commenced at Mace's claim on Thursday afternoon, the. last instalment of material having arrived upon the ground by .pack- . horae on Tuesday; The work in connection with the furnace is being pushed forward with all despatch. ....-.• : A magnificent sample of stone taken from the face of the reef in the prospectors' claim, Larry's, is now on view at Oxley's store. The stone is thickly studded with gold, and places- beyond doubt the extraordinary richness of the reef. Its width as at present exposed is very nearly 3ft. A smaller sample, lib in weight, has been crushed, and yielded l|dwt of pure gold, or at the rate of 168oz to the ton. The striking of the reef on Monday in M'Lean's claim, Adani SiSith's line, prrfduced some excitement, and various interests changed hands, several of which were secured before any appreciable advance in the shares had been established.: Among those who were so lucky as to purchase at a low figure was Mr John Stitt, who now holds a share' and a half in the clainy purchased for about Ll?0. The present value for a full share 'is' fromi L3OO to L4OO, the' former figure being' freely offered. . The reef at present struck is sft 9in thick, with thoroughly payable prospects.
