The Theatre Royal has been totally destroyed by fire. Large damage was done to surrounding properties. Mr Vale has promised further concessions as to drawbacks to facilitate intercolonial trade. The police have traced the murdered man Bridges, ward-room steward of the Rosario, from leaving ship till engaged in a situation at Paramatta, near where his murdered body was found. They have apprehended Nicholls, a butcher, and Lester, a lad of 19, both of whom had previously been in gaol. Lester had in his possession

a watch belonging to a man named Walter, who had been missing for some time, and. whose body was subsequently found. • It is believed that systematic murderings have been discovered.
