Tho ss Rangitoto from Melbourne is expected to arrive off Hokitika to-day. She will come on hero to-morrow, and be despatched with passengers for all New Zealand ports and Melbourne via the Bluff. The arrivals at this port yesterday were the as Wallabi, Daniels, master, from Wanganui and Westport, with a cargo of cattle and horses; the ss Kennedy, from Nelson via Westport and Hokitika; and the schooner Kaiuma, Maule, master, from Lyttelton, which was towed in by the ps Dispatch. The Kennedy will discharge cargo this morning, and leave for Westport and Nelson shortly after one o'clock, and the ss Wallabi will leave on the same tide for WanganuL . The ss Wallabi, Captain Darnels, left Wanganui on Thursday night at 7 o'clock, and reached Westport at 10 o'clock on Friday. Discharged 30 head of cattle, 10 horses, and 150 sheep, and left on Saturday night for this port, where she arrived yesterday morning. She was taken into the lagoon on the Nelson side.fand there discharged 12 horses, 4 cowßand calves, and then came on to the wharf, where 100 sheep and 20 pigs were put ashore. In discharging on the Nelson side one horse was drowned. A serious misadventure, which will be attended by considerable loss, happened to tho little steamei Pioneer and tho punt, engaged in loading the Malay at WanganuL The punt wasloaded with 52 bales of wool 1 and 13 bales of flnx, and, on being towed down the river by the little steamer, got out of the channel and took the ground. The Pioneer proceeded to the vessel to discharge her own cargo, and remained alongside until the tide should again make. On going next morning to bring down the punt it was gone. It had floated some time before, and on investigation it turned out that it had floated seaward. In crossing the bar it must have capsized, and a portion of its cargo has already been washed ashore.
