Up, my friend, and clear your looks Why all this toil and trouble?" = yi LL those who are suffering : from . de-; XJL. spondency, melancholia, loss of spirits,J and pluck, who feel that they are wasting and pining, and who ar» gradually getting weaker and weaker, from causes. they have not.courage or desire to acquaint, their family attendant with. In all such cases Mr L. L. SMITH feels it incumbent on himself to inform, such unfortunate patients, that he : has devoted his lifetime to the study of these complaints, having been a pupil and assist-. J ant of the late Dr Culverwell, of London, who L made these diseases his special practice. L In all those diseases relating and pertaining; to Married Life, and which make marriage a 5 curse rather than a blessing, Mr L. L. SMITH . can be consulted with . the greatest certainty, of success, and with the additional feeling that no chance can possibly occur of their secret ever being divulged. ■ -, • In cases of extreme Nervous, Debility, where the patient feels that he is exhausted: and physically, prostrated, and incapable of ; exertion without great fatigue, then' arid r there the person so situated should at once I consult Mr L. L. Smith before disease of a more , serious character sets in ; the i above i arises frequently from the enervating influ- , ence •of hot oliraaties, but frequently from other causes ot a more serious nature. Palpitations ot the heart, a tendency also i to be easily startled and. alarmed, is another; phase of diseaue which requires particular, attention, as arising from a most important > cause ; those who suffer from the a 1 vco have' not— ■■.•■■ " •■■";'■■ •■ ' . " Mixa reason with pleasure, 1 Ana wisdom with mirth." But have, on tne contrary, been guilby of. a. . secret vice, which has, as it were, eaten into their very vitais. Many "old young men' consult me, wno, though young in years,: have, through the vice above alluded to, and' from their having been quacked bytheunt qualified ana unskilful medical man, at last' given up alt nope and succumbed, and are ■ aged in their vury youth, unfitted to fulfil i the duties which they were sent on this earth to periorm. "Be wise to-day, 'tis madness to defer, Procrastination is the thief of time. " Mr L. L. BMITH wishes to impress on those who aro laboring under diseases which cannot be treated by the general medical attendant, trora insufficient knowledge and. practice, thai; as an expert in these diseases,; he has thenain; to warn the pubhc at large against the Dumper of blatant charlatons and quacks who not only extort the money but, of the pockev* of the patients, but are continually ruining the health of the unfortunate sufferers. Many hundreds yearly present themselves to mm from all the different colonies, who are thoroughly bankrupt in. health and pockeb, ana they then lament, when too late, the homDle deception which has-been practised on them. . > JN ot only ao men deceive these unfortunate victims by pretending to be legally-qualified men, -but they advertise for sale, and swindle thep'ubh'c, by Heiling bottles of muck, under the name of "Or Ricord's Essence of Life," ".8a1m... 0f. byriacum," and a mass of other quackeries, wnose sole province is to extract money out ot the pockets of their deluded victims. Will the puolic never understand that the only guarantee rdiey can have that they will be honestly ana skilfully treated, is the fact that the peraou to whom they apply for advice is a legally-qualified medical man who has devoted xiis time to the branch of prac^ tice for wliica the patient is seeking aid? Secondly, that ms long residence in the place, and his position, is at least a guarantee of the estimation in which he is Tield by his fellow-citizeiiu. ' '-'■'■■ Dr. L. -L.
