TAMBAROORA.

The Times of the 14th ult. says:— "This has been a sensation week with us. First came the wonderful crushing from Faxton and Holman's claim producing a cake of gold weighing 4,400 ounces, of which 4,1500z. were obtained from two tons. In six weeks the proprietors of this claim divided over £24,000— a thing not to be equalled every day. The stone to be raised is said to be richer, if anything, and there really seems do knowing where these wonderful finds will end. The next event was the jumping of four rich claims on the Hill—(Krohmann's, Beyers', Hurley's, and Carll and Beard's)— by Dale and party. The amount of stone crushed by Messrs Pullen and Rawsthorne's machine for the year 1871, commencing on Feb* ruary 16, was 1943 tons, yieldiug 16,333 ounces. This gives an average of about Boz. to the ton, a very handsome return for the gross quantity of stone. The above crushings were made by Messrs Pullen and Rawsthrone's small machine. This week their powerful new machine, built to order by Messrs P. N. Russell and Sons, of Sydney, is to commence operations.

The Grapholite Gold Mining Company is to be formed to work a lease of six acres, originally taken out by McPherson, and Naylor, and situate above the Southern Cross, Hawkin's Hill; for which latter company, there were 5,000 applications for the 3,000 shares. The Grapholite Company's grounds are more advantageously situated; Krohmann's veins going through the ground, which is in a direct line between Krohmann's and the Champion and Tunnicliffe's claims all getting good gold. There will be no difficulty, we apprehend, in floating this company, as the ground is proved beyond doubt to contain rich veins, that will pay very handsomely for working. The Golden Fleece Company are now putting in a tunnel from the Macquaire, to cut the Hit or Miss vein, which some years ago yielded 6oz. to the ton ; Nicholl's vein in which the Oriental Company is getting good gold; Sirae's vein (the Welcome) too well known to require description ; and Bragg and Co.'s, new vein and Williams', vein. The two latter veins yielded at the Sydney mint lately I7oz. and 3oz. respectively to the ton. This company has good prospects and plenty of work before them ; as their tunnel wifljcut upwards of 60 veins already known.

A company called the Enterprise Gold Mining Company is about to be formed for the purpose of working a ten acre lease on the Bald Hill, near Paxttfn, Gard, Holman, and Co's lease; andadjoining King's Old Reef. Three distinct gold bearing veins or lines of reef run through this lease, paralled withtheßald Hill veins and King's. The former gave a return of ten to thirty ounces to the ton, and the latter from four to one hundred ounces, (picked stone) to the ton ; and a few tons from the surface on this lease went loz. 4dwt. The gold bearing veins can be worked from the surface, or by driving tunnels from the deep creek that runs at the foot of the Bald Hill, which will cut (in three or four hundred feet) several veins known to run through this lease. The ground on the southern boundary of the' enterprise was worked to a depth of 40 feet by King, and party nine years ago, and gave the returns now stated ; but owing to the distance the stone had to be carted to the machine, and so little being known 'about the nature of quartz, reefing at the time this line of reef was abandoned up to some few months ago. Golden Gully. — The Brown Horse, (Doust and Co.'s,) are forming a company for their ground. DeUovr and Barlow have bought George Anderson's claim ; and are forming a company. Thomas and party are crushing. They are on a poor patch of stone this time,; but have plenty of good Btone in the ground yet. White and Co. have a big pile of stone up, which looks well. They have bottomed, their second abaft, and are driving to breakthrough. .Porter and Anderson are raising first-class 'stone ; the gold is heavy, and runs well through the solid. There is one thing looks well for this line — the further north the heavier the gold is. Rose of Sharon are sinking. Onehalf share in this claim has changed hands for LSO. Wood and Slack (Golden Pot) adjoining Porter's, are also siuking. They are down over one hundred feet, have gone through one vein, showin (it is said) 3 or 4oz. to the ton. They expect to cut Porter's vein in about another ten feet. A good figure is said to be offered for a share in this claim. The next party, Glover and Cox, have gone through a vein carrying fair gold ; they are also sinking a 150 feet shaft next Langford. There is no doubt Golden Gully will become one of the most important places in the district.
