TENDERS will be received at the Provincial Engineer's Office, Westport, up to March 23rd, for the following works in connection with the Construction of a DRAY ROAD in the INANGAHUA and GREY VALLESTS :- Inangahua— Road Section No. I— From Christy's to the Gorge, four and a-half miles. Section No. 3— Larry's Creek to Fern Flat, four miles. .» Tenders will be received up to March 30 for Section No. 1 : Grey Valley Road, from Reefton to the Mia-mia Plain, seven miles. Plans and specifications may be seen at the Resident Magistrate's Court, Greymouth, and at the District Engineer's Office, Hokitika, and tenders will be received at the latter place up to 4 p.m. on FRIDAY, 29th, MARCH, 1872. TENDERS will be received at the General Post Office, Wellington, till the Ist April next,' for the performance of the undermentioned Mail Steam Service :— Between Picton and the Manukau, calling at Nelson and Taranaki ; and back to Picton, by the same route, once every four weeks; The names, tonnage, and horse-power of tbe vessels proposed to be employed to be stated, and the. vessels to be approved by the Postmaster-General, and to be surveyed by some person appointed by him whenever he may consider it necessary. „ A chief cabin passage, free of cost either for passage or victualling, to be provided when required for an officer of the Post Office Department. A proper and secure room to be -provided for the mails ; and all mails to be landed and Bhipped by and at tbe expense of the contractor. ,/■-■ . The days and hours of arrival and departure at and from the various ports to be fixed by the Postmaster-General, who shall .J.-;o have tbe power of detaining the vessels, if'necesßary, for forty-eight hours after the days fixed for their departure from Manukau, without charge. For any other detention,: the rate of demurrage per hour to be stated.' The service to commence at Picton on the 14th April next.
