A melancholy and fatal accident occurred on Saturday last, resulting in the death of a groom named; JphhvSheridan. The deceased was riding, and- leading a second 1 horse down the the river, when it is ,tmg%. posed that he got into one of the numerous holes in the river bed, and the horse he was leading refused to follow. The probabilities are : that the horse upon which he was mounted was swimming, and that the second horse shied and dragged the deceased, from his seat. Sheridan was known to be an expert swimmer, so that he could have easily extricated himself from his position, had he not unfortunately received a kick -on the temple from the. horse's hoof, which must have rendered him unconscious. He was for several years on the Coast, and came to this place from Brighton, where he lived with Mr Slattery.
