There has been a great exportation of grain to the north this week ; also large parcels to Sydney. Wheat, 4s Id to 4s 3d: oats slow, Is 9d to 2s; barley in good request, 4a to 43 3d ; butter, 6£d to 7d ; hams and bacon well supplied ; cheese scarce, 7d to B£d. Charleston, March 8. The racehorse Why Not was severely staked last night, and will not be able to go to the races at' Greymouth. The town had a narrow escape from fire last night. The back of Carmody's hotel caught fire, and was with difficulty I extinguished. The Bishop of Nelson has arrived. Wellington, March 8.
