Girolamo, Barretti. Battista, Morettina WHELPTON'S A RE warranted not to contain a single XX. r ' particle of Mercury or any ; other Mineral Substance, but to consist entirely of Medicinal matters, purely Vegetable ; hence they : are easily digested by the stomach, taken up by the absorbent vessels, and carried into the blood, and thus the whole system is brought under their purifying and renovating influence. They have long since .been used in one of the largest County Hospitals in Great Britain, and received the commendation of several eminent physicians and surgeons ; and have proved their value in thousands of I nstances in diseases of the Head, Chest, Bowels, Liver, and Kidneys ; and in all Skin Complaints are one of the best medicines known. Padman, Adelaide ; Messrs Elliott Brothers, Sydney ; Mr Jakins, Auckland ; Messrs Youngman, Dunedin. " Up J Up, my friend, and clear your looks Why all this toil arid trouble ?" ALL those who are suffering from de- : spondency, melancholia, loss of spirits, and plupk, who feel that they are wasting and pining, and who are gradually getting weaker and weaker, from causes they have not- courage or desire to acquaint their family attendant with. In all such oases Mr L. L. SMITH feels it incumbent on himself to inform such, unfortunate patients, that he has devoted his lifetime to the study of these complaints, having been a pupil and assistant of the late DrCulverwell, of London, who made these diseases his special practice. In all those diseases relating and pertaining to Married Life, and which moke marriage a curse rather than a blessing, Mr L. L. SMITH can be consulted with the greatest certainty of success, and with the additional feeling that no chance can possibly occur of their secret ever being divulged. In cases of extreme Nervous Debility, where the patient feels that he is exhausted and physically prostrated, and incapable of exertion without great fatigue, then and there the person so situated should at once consult Mr L. L. Smith before disease of a more serious character sets in; the above arises frequently from the enervating influence of hot climates, but frequently from other causes ot a more serious nature. Palpitations ot the heart, a tendency also to be easily scartled and alarmed, is another phase of disuaue which requires particular attention, as arising from a most important cause ; those wno suffer from the al *yo have NOT— f f M^X'd reason with pleasure, Ana wisdom with "flaipjijps But have, on tne contrary, been guilty of a secret vice, wnlcn has, as it were, eaten into their very vitals. Many " old young men' consult me, wno, though young in years, have, through tne vice above alluded -to, and from their having been quacked by the unqualified ana unskilful medical man, at last given up all nope and succumbed, and are aged. in their very youth, unfitted to fulfil the duties which they were sent on this earth to penorm. fifte wise to-day, 'tis madness to defer, Procrastination is the thief pf time." MrL. L; SMITH wishes to impress on those who ar6 laboring under diseases which cannot be treated by. the general medical attendant, front insufficient knowledge and practice, thai as an expert in these diseases, he. has the ngnx to warn the public at large against the nuraoer of blatant charlatons and quacks who noc only extort the money out of the pocket* of the patients, but are continually ruining the health of the unfortunate sufferers. Many hundreds yearly present themselves to aim from all the different colonies,. who are thoroughly bankrupt in health and' pocket, and they then lament, when too late, the horrlDle deception which has been practised on tnein. JVlpj; only do men deceive these unfortunate victims by pretending to be legally-qualified men, but they auvertise for sale, and swindle the public, by selling bottles' of muck, under the name of *» l)r Ricord's Essence pf Life," "Balm of fcsyriacuin," and a mass of other quackeries, wnose sole province is to extract money out ot trie pockets of their deluded victims. Will the puolic never understand that the only guarantee tney can have that they will be honestly ana skilfully treated, is the fact that the peraon to whom they apply for advice is a legally-qualified medical man who has devoted Jiis time to the branch of practice for -whicn. the patient is seeking aid; Secondly, that ms long residence in the place, and his position, is at least a guarantee of the estimation in which he is neld by his fellow-citizeiw. Dr. L. L. SMITH can be consulted by letter ; fee, £1, By the abovo means any male or female patient cau, dv describing their symptoms, avoid the, in many cases, unpleasantness of a personal interview, and the patient can retain his incognito. Medicines appropriately packed to avoid observation are sentto all parts of the colonies, with ptotn letters of instruction as to diet, &c. .-,... ..... . Mr L. L. SMITH consults personally daily, mornings before 11, and evenings beween 7 and Q. 192 Bourke street east, Mcl- • bourne,
