Mr Yogel interviewed Mr Duffy and submitted au arrangement for a Postal service, to' be shared in by New Zealand and Victoria. Au accident occurred on the railway to a man lately from New Zealand, travelling to Taradale on the railway, when a little girl fell through an unlocked door. She was picked up insensible ; cause, concussion of the brain. Captain Collard, of the Sussex, was . convicted, and sentenced to one months' imprisonment. Great efforts are made by a petition to procure a commutation of the term. The cargo of the Sussex is still being recovered by salvagers. Hancock, convicted of a criminal assault -on his daughter, has beeu sentenced to death. The New Blackwaller steamer Northumberland arrived from port to.port under 55 days. • Two cases of sticking-up on the Goulburn have occurred. One prisoner was taken. The Victoria Woollen Factory at Geelong, commence manufacturing broadcloth in about a month. '. Sydney, Feb. 28. ■ __Mr C. E. Jones is lecturing successfully on the route to America. In his lecturing tour he will possibly pay a visit to New Zealand. In the Ministerial election the struggle is going on with varying success. The 27th was observed as a public holiday of thanksgiving services for the recovery of the Prince of Wales in all the churches. ATe Deum was sung in the Catholic churches. Queensland, Feb. 28. The Norman River was flooded as high as before, cuttiug off all communication with the Darwin party. . Adelaide, Feb. 28. .The Roman Catholic Bishop Shiels.is reported as sinking fast ; prayers are offered in all Catholic churches.
