Dunedin— The Daily Times of 17th February, in its monthly summary, reports of brcadstuffs and grain as follows :— Usually there is very little, doing in produce about harvesting time, and the present time has not proved an exception. The month has been very barren of transaction in grain, and in the slender business, observable the course of prices has been rather against the grower Considerable doubt, prevails as to the extent to which the extreme dryness of tho early summer has affected the crops. Thore is no doubt but that in some districts the quantity will be short ; but the reports from other districts do not point to this state of things, and the probability is that the crop will be nearly an average one. Very few parcels of good old wheats have been latterly offering ; but as millers have been very light buyers, this has hardly kept prices up to Last rates. Closing quotations— 4s 6d to ss, with but little prospect of an improved trade until . the new wheats are available. Malting barley is much in request ; but there are no supplies, and, in consequence, business is impracticable, and quotations of no value until the new groin comes in. Feeding grains have been neglected, and the demand for oats confined to local requirements; Average samples are worth Is lOd to 2s. There has been a good local demand for flour, at rather easier rates. Ll2 10s to Ll3 is the value of the best town brands. By intercolonial shipments, the market has been supplied with rice. A fair business has beeD done at about lost quotations, viz., Patna, L 23 10s ; dressed Java, L 27, duty paid. :.:
