The gale which was felt on tbe East Coast of the North Inland oa Monday and Tuesday has worked its way south. Yesterday, at , Tauranga and Napier, according to the tele- ' graphic reports, there was a calm, with doudy weather and a rough sea. From £i elson tho report is— easterly gale, gloomy. At Lyttelton, Christchurch, and the Boaley, it was calm, with drizzling rain. But from Dunedin and Port Chalmers tho report is north-easterly gale and cloudy. The schooner Ceres, bound for Newcastle, N.B.W, was towed out yesterday evening by the steamer Dispatch. _ Thebrigantine Isabella, bound for Hokitika from Kaiapoi, passed in the offing yesterday with all sail set to a fresh breeze. She will probably be towed into Hokitika on this morning's tide. Captain Underwood, of tbe Alhambra, advises his agents bere that be will reach Ureymouth on the 29th inßtant, and as he is always punctual, the Alhambra is advertised to sail oa the last of the month from Greymonth.
