THE WEST COAST MAIL SERVICE.
— ♦ ' — ' ■ ' (TO THE EDITOR.) Sir— Now that the Premier is here, I trust his attention may be drawn to the fact that, though on the 7th inst. the San: Francisco mail steamer arrived at Auckland, the mail has not yet come here, nor is it probable that we shall get it for some time, there being no mail service for this part of tlie Colony. The : time from . the Manukau to Nelson is thirty-sixhours, arid from there to here, itwould not at any rate, take longer— say three days in all— -yet, aaja rule, the English mails arrive here about a fortnight or so after their arrival in Auckland. I have known it take longer. A state of things which, considering the amount spent on postal services by the Colony, ia wholly inexcusable. i lam, &c, ; ■-: ,;.:■; .;■.'.- . CIVIS.
