Three of the small fleet of steamers which, daring the past two days, occupied the wharf — the Kennedy, Murray, and Waipara— left. for different destinations yesterday, and the Wallabi was to leave early this morning. The Wallabi was able, after some delay, to obtain sufficient coal to proceed on her voyage, and the Kennedy had been 'supplied at Hokitika, where there happened to t>e a considerable stock. It is fully expected that little or no delay will he caused to the next steamers which visit tho port, as . exertions are being mode to maintain the supply, but of course this cannot be done without some exertion in the work oi renowing the coalshoots at the mine, which were entirely destroyed by the recent flood. The Iris, with tea from Foo-Chow-Foo, and the Jewess, with Yankee notions, from New York, have arrived at Port Chalmers. A lighterman named Peter Crockett, at Port Chalmers, has had his arm broken by a sadden stroko of the winch-handle. The barque Nightingale has arrived at Port Chalmers with a cargo of jarrah timber for the railway jetty. She is to be followed by two other vsssola. She brings the welcome news of the arrival of the barque Midas in Western Australia.
