[FROM OUR OW>' CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Feb. 7. Mr Harrison writes to the Independent denying the statement iv Greville's tele. yam froih Westpbrfc, that he had consented to any expenditure^ except to poris nect the Inangahua with Westport and Greymouth . respectively. The proposal to spend L6OOO in the Waimea district comes, he says, from Mr Ouriis only, arid is a gross violation of good faith. He states that he has protested to the Government against the expenditure.
