NEW SOUTH WALES.

A splendid specimen of auriferous quartz has teen exhibited at the Sydney Exchange the last day or two. It was taken out of Paxton and Ho 1 nan's celebrated mine at Tamb voora. It is estimated to contain about 48 per cent, of gold. The weight of the specimen is 2360z Bdv.i 18^' troy, and it contains 113oz 9dwt of gold. It is valued at about L 460. We understand that far richer specimens have been obtained from the same mine, but it was considered that this one would afford the greatest amount of interest to the general public, on account of the beautiful manner in which the precious metal is mixed with the quartz. It was taken from a depth of 240 feet from the surface.— S. M. Herald, Jan. 33.
