Messrs Felton, Grimwade and Co., Melbourne ; Mr T. Padman, Adelaide ; Messrs Elliott Brothers, Sydney j Mr Jalcins, Auckland ; Messrs Youngman, Dunedin. ; " Up ! Up, my friend, and clear your looks . Why all this toil and trouble?" ALL those who are suffering from despondency, melancholia, loss of spirits, and pluck, who feel that they are wasting and pining, and who are gradually getting weaker and weaker, from causes they have not courage or desire to acquaint their family ; attendant with. In all Buch cases Mr L. L. I SMITH feels ifc incumbent on himself to inform such unfortunate patients, that he has devoted his lifetime to the study of these complaints, having been a pupil and assist- ( ant of the late Dr Culverwell, of London, who made these diseases his special practice. In all those diseases relating and pertaining to Married Life, and which make marriage a i curse rather than a blessing, Mr L. L. SMITH l can be consulted with the greatest certainty ? of success, and with the additional feeling that no chance can possibly occur of their L secret ever being divulged. l In cases of extreme Nervous Debility, where the patient feels that he is exhausted and physically prostrated, and incapable of exertion without great fatigue, then and there the person so situated should at once ' consult Mr L. L. Smith before disease of a more serious character sets in; the above arises frequently from the enervating influence of hot climates, but frequently from other causes ot a more serious nature. . Palpitations oi the heart, a tendency also . to be easily startled and alarmed, is another phase of disease wMch requires particular attention, as arising' from a most important cause ; those wuo suffer from the above have 1 not — ' " Mix- a reason with pleasure, Ana wisdom with mirth." But have, on tne contrary, been guilty of a secret vice, wnich has, as it were, eaten into their very vitais. Many "old young men' consult me, who, though young in years, have, througli cne vice above alluded to, and from .their having been quacked by the unqualified ana unskilful medical man, at last given up all nope and succumbed, and are aged in their very youth, unfitted to fulfil the duties which they were sent on this earth to periorm. • • ' "Be wise so-day, 'tis madness to defer, i Procrastination is the thief of time." Mr L. L; SMITH wishes to impress on those who aro laboring under diseases which cannot be treated by the general medical attendant, trum insufficient knowledge and ' practice, thav as an expert in these "diseases, he has the rigm; to warn the public at large against the numoer of blatant charlatons and quacks who noc only extort <the money out of the pocket* of the patients, butarecon- ' tinually ruining vhe health of the unfortunate sufferers. Many hundreds yearly present themselves to mm from all the different colo : nies, who are t&oroughly bankrupt in health . and pocket, ana they thpii lament, when tpp late, the horrible deception wlijch has bee.n practised on tinem. : " JSot onlyao men deceive tjiese unfortunate victims by pretending to be legally-qualified men, but they advertise for sale," and swindle the public, by Belling bottles of muck, under the name of ".Or Ricord's Essence of Life," "Balm of ISynacum," and a mass pt other quackeries, wnose sole province is to extract money out ot the pockets of their deluded victims. Will the puDlic neyer understand that the only guarantee nney pan have that they wjll be honestly anu skilfully treated, is . the fapt that the peraon to whom they apply for advice is a legally-qualified medical man who has devoted his time to the branch of practice for whica the patient is seeking aid?. Secondly, that ms long residence in the place, ; and his position, is at least a guarantee of the estimation m which he is |ield by his fellow-citizeux. \ Dr. L. L. SMITH can be cohsedted by letter; fee, £L " . ', By the abovo means any male or female patient can, uv describing their symptoms, avoid the, in many cases, unpleasantness! of a personal interview, and the patient can retain his incognito, • Medicines appropriately packed to avoid observation are sent to all parts of the colonies, with plain letters of instruction as to diet, &c. , Mr L. li. is MITH consults personally daily, mornings before 11, and evenings between 7 and 9. 192 Bourke street east, Mel> ' bourne,
