Grey River Argus Office, . . Thursday evening. The amount of revenue received at the C astoms on goods passed for home consumption to-day was £205 0s 6d. Christchurch. —The Lyttelton Times, of Satuarday last, reports :— The grain market continues very dull; owing to the few outside orders, and for local consumption the millers are too fully supplied with flour to operate to any extent in wheat ; therefore we are at present depending on the English market for an outlet for our surplus supplies. Several large parcels are about to be shipped to England, but the excessively high rates of freight will curtail operations, as, at the present market value, there is little or no margin left to the exporters. Good wheat, in store, is held for 4s 6d ; for farmers' lots, 4s 3d is the top quotation given. There is an excellent demand existing for good bright samples of potato oats at 3s ; Tartarian oats command 2s Gd to to 2s 7d for local consumption, and even several lots of faulty ditto have been quitted at 2* 4d to 23 Gd. In provisions, this market is, getting heavily stocked with butter, so that the dealers have again reduced their quotations to 4£d and 4s d. Cheese cannot be quitted at anything like satisfactory tates, the best samples only realising 34d'to 3£d. Hams and bacon continue to receive a fair share of attention at G£d to 7 id, according to quality.
