The demand, however, is ouly temporary, consequent upon a few orders from Auckland, and as these aye now supplied, it is most likely that prices will again be easier. There are a few holders of wheat (who purchased at high rates) that will not accept anything under 4s 9d, preferring rather to risk the English market, and ship under an advance. Millers hold heavy stocks of Hour, aud for the moment arc not iv the market for wheat. Oats rule very firm, and as high as 3s has been paid for very lino samples for milling; good feed are moving at 2s Gd. In barley, few or no sales can be reported. Butter is offering very plentifully, and several large lines have been placed ay 44d up to fld. HamE and bacon arc in better request at 7<l to 7^d. Cheese continues a drug, at 3d to 34rt.
