Thermometer was highest at Christchurch, 62 ; and lowest at Hokitika, 53. The p.s. Charles Edward sailed yesterday on her return trip for Westport and Nelson . The p. 8. Dispatch left the port yesterday morning, for Westport, to tow in the schooner Ceres. The s.s. Murray sailed on. yesterday morning's tide for Westpost' and Nelson. The 8.8. Waipara arrived in port on last evening's tide, bringing up from HokitikU the portion of the Rangitoto's cargo consigned to this port. The s s. Kennedy is announced to Bail northwards to-morrow. It will be seen from on* 1 advertising columns that the schooner Ceres will sail for Clarence River, New South Wales, from Westport, on Saturday. Intending passengers for Gulgong and Currajong will find this a favorable opportunity of reaching those diggings. They can be booked 'from Greymouth by applying to the agents, Messrs Glenn Brothers.
