We learn by the telegraphic report that blue sky and cloudy weather prevailed all over the Colony, with bars good. Barometer was highest at the Bluff, 30.18 ; and lowest at the Bealey, 27.39. Thermometer was|highestat Napies, 62 ; and lowest at the Bealey, 42. The s.s. Tararua, with the Suez mail is expected at Hokitika hourly. She is announced to sail from Greymouth for Northern ports to-day. The s.s. Alhambra left Wellington for Nelson yesterday, and will doubtless arrive at Qrevmouth this evening or early tomorrow. The s.b. Waipara sailed yesterday morning for Brighton. The new schooner Gleaner, Captain Le Bran, will sail to-day for Clarence River. Intending passengers for the Gulgong diggings will find this a favorable opportunity. The Anchor liner Charles Edward, Captain Holmes, arrived yesterday, at 3.30 p. m. She left Nelson on Sunday last, at 10-^.m. ; arrived off Westport at 8.30 the following morning, and crossed the bar at 11 Km. Discharged a large cargo, and left again at midnight, crossing the Hokitika bar at 11.30 a.m. on Tuesday. Was detained there for two days, owing to the unsettled state of the weather preventing the discharge of cargo. » Left Hokitika at 1 p.m. on Thursday, and arrived as above. She leaves for Westport and Nelson at 3 p.m. to-day.
