If bulkheads were so constructed, fire coald be completely confined to that part of the vesselwhere it originated, and the bulkheads would retain their shape however fierce the fire. The following is Captain Stewart's report of the accident which happened on board the schooner Dunedin on ier passage from Oamaru to Auckland :- -Left Oatnaru on the .Bth insi., and had moderate weather during the first part of the voyage. On Sunday last, when off Napier,' she encountered a strong sale, during which a heavy sea broke on board, washing away the man at t*ie wheel, who was carried over the rail, and only saved himself by clinging to the main sheet.
