VICTORIA.

BERLIN. A large nugget was got on the 15th of August in Catto's paddock, 201 b weight. A new feature is springing . up on the Berlin gold fields in the shape of reefing. About a month ago, a large specimen of quartz and gold was discovered on the rauge at the head of Eureka Gully, three miles west of Berlin, and since then over L6OO-worth of pure gold was obtained from the stone. The previous week the same party (who haflf ' taken rup and is working the reef) got some' specimens which are . very rich. Another party picked up from the surface in Power's,! Gully a 601 b weight . , specimen, which

gelded 120oz of gold. A specimen is reported from Dod's Hill, andfcnother from Garibaldi, but I cannot obtain any further particulars at present. All these specimens have been got on the north-west Bide of us. A few days ago, a young man named Key brought in 6dwt of gold from the casing of a reef in Paper Gully, two Jlfel^ipf Js^ has purchased from Mr Whelan'the~~paddock he had on lease,, and also has/leased 10 acres from Mr Williarii Johns for ten years, for .the purpose of reefing, and he,' has commenced one shaft at John's Town, which is already^ down 45ft. A man named Easton got a 330z piece j, short time ago close by, 6in from the surface. He named it Lion's" Paw Nuggety from its great resemblance to the foot, of that animal. A 191 b piece was unearthed at Old Berlin, near the Old Berlin store. Several small bits have been got on Christmas^Flat, and Campbell and party got a 9oJ piece also, so that you see a good yield of .gold still continues on Berlin. ■■■ * JEKITSAIBM CHEEK. .- The alluvial rush at Jerusalem Creek, near Darlingf ord, has not (says the Alexandra Times), realised expectations, and most of the miners have abandoned their claims. The prospectors still ©bntinue to get gold. Mr M'Greavy, one 6f the prospectors, states that he found a ritigget over an ounce in weight in an' adjoining creek. Several persons haVe seen tKe nugget, ana the ground is at present being pros/pected., 1 ' . ' ']]' " ';> .; ~' ? '/'. \' t l ','.
