Both the steamers Claud Hamilton aud j Alhambra were off Hokitika yesterday morn- , ing, but the sea on the bar was too heavy to , allow the ps. Waipara to tender ttena. In- j formation was telegraphed by the agent yes- j terday that both steamers would be tendered I at Hokitika last night, and requesting that i the Dispatch should go out here with the l passengers from this port, and lie in the road- ] stead all night. The agent here would have i carried out this arrangement; but, on the ; representation of a number of intending pas , senders, several of whom were ladies, that, it ■ was unfair to them to he kept in the road- '. stead all night, and perhaps transhipped in a ' rough sea at midnight, he very properly arrauged to tender the boats at six o'clock this moining. There are nearly forty passengers leading by the two steamers. The 5.3. Kennedy sailed yesterday afternoon, for Wostport and Nelson. The p. s. Charles Fdward is expected here on Sunday from Nelson and other ports, and is announced to leave on Monday night on her return Northern trip. The renowned steamship Great Britain has again arrived in Hobsou's Bay from England, after a passage of 63 days.
