, « The following is a summary of the latest Australian Telegrams brought to Auckland by the s.s. Hero : — The Great Britain has arrived, 63 days out, all well. Mr Anthony Trollope was a passenger. Sales of flour have taken place at Ll6. Adelaide wheat is quoted at 7s. Sugars continue in active demand. July 29. Mr Anthony Trollope visits Queensland after the mail arrives ; then Sydney, and afterwards takes a tour through Australia and New Zealand, returning home via California. July 31. Fisher, the Nunawading Messiah, essayed to propound his doctrines at the Haymarket Theatre last night. There was a crowded audience, but order was not preserved, and after speaking twenty minutes he retired from the stage. Adelaide, July 27. The Aldinga sailed with the telegraph expedition. Very satisfactory news has been received from the far-out parties constructing the overland telegraph. Feed and water are abundant. July 31. Great satisfaction is felt at the favorable commercial news. Private letters quite bear out the published quotations of wool. Private advices state that the Captain of the Queen of the Thames has commenced an action against Mr Goyder for a libel contained in his letter to the London Times. August 1. Wheat is at a standstill, and quoted nominally at 5s 7d. Sydney, August 2. Four fire 3 occurred in Sydney during last week. None, however, resulted in any great destruction of property. ]
