"The Sporting Flat rush," says the Dunolly Express, " has been just holding its own since our last visit, the largest piece we have heard of as obtained here during last week being 2\oz. by Stout and mate. The wash dirt continues to average about the same as hitherto, and we find that from claims that had been given up as unprofitable payable returns are now obtained, the fault being in taking too much dirt. A report was current on Saturday evening that a 20oz. nugget had been turned out here, but, on enquiring, we are informed that it was obtained by two new chums, somewhere in the neighborhood, and that several have started off in search of the new Eldorado.
