[per greville's telegraph company, reuter's agents.] Auckland, via Nelson, July 9. A sudden fall has occurred in all mining stock, and towards evening a panic set in. Caledonians were declared down to L 16 0; Thames, L3O. The market is firmer to-day, and there are buyers at the quoted prices. Small holders became alarmed consequent on the small quantity of specimens taken out this week from the Caledonian, owing to the men having been employed in securing the mine and sinking for a lower level. It is generally believed that the dividends will be small for the next few weeks, but will increase again. Tookey's remain firm. The Governor and Earl Belmore visit the Thames to-day in the Luna. Earl Belmore will probably leave for Sydney on Saturday by the Hero. It is reported that Rcpata has joined Te Kooti, but the rumor is not believed. Muirhead, sentenced to death for the murder of Gilflllan, has been reprieved, and his sentence commuted to penal servitude for life. Arrived.— Nabodo, from Fiji ; Frowning Beauty, fram Newcastle. Sailed — Star of the South, for Napier : Australind, for Newcastle. Commercial.— Flour has advanced to LlB. Maize, 5s 3d ; oats, 3s 6d. 1 p.m. The Caledonian has commenced crushing specimens. Over two tons are in hand.
