At Stafford Town, the other day, a man named Bassett was committed for trial for presenting a base florin to Mr Lyons, in payment. The badness of the coin was, however, at once detected, and the money marked. Sassett subsequently gave another two-shilling piece, which was found to be spurious, at the shop of Mr Kirkpatrick. The Resident Magistrate, Mr Price, considered that there was sufficient evidence before him to warrant 1 a committal for trial of the prisoner at the next criminal sessions.
