OPENING OF THE OTAGO UNIVERSITY. [per greville's telegraph company, reuter's agents.] Dunedin, June 5. Captain Blethen entertained the Government and Council at lunch on board the Nevada to to-day. The Council is going in for retrenchment. The Superintendent's salary is reduced to LBOO. M'Glashan's mill has been destroyed by fire. The escort brought down ll,ooooz. Dunedin, July 5. The Otago University was opened today with great eclat. Major Richardson delivered an inaugural address which occupied two hours in delivery. There was a large and fashionable attendance. Thirty students have already entered their names.
