Wellington, June 3. The charge against Mr Lemon, General Manager of the Telegraph Department, finished thus : — Mr Travers : " That closes the case." Mr Allan (Lemon's counsel) : "1 do not think it necessary to say a word." The Court : " Case dismissed." Mr Travers : " Without a reason ?" The Court: "Yes; case dismissed; Lemon discharged." Tauranga, June 3. The schooner Tauranga arrived this morning from Auckland. The Thames Gold Fields are still prosperous. Mr Mitchell, M.P.C., pleaded guilty to using abusive language to Chief Taipari, and was bound over to keep the peace in sureties of LSO each. The claim Golden Anchor from 13 tons of stone obtained 23*02 of gold. Great dissatisfaction is expressed by shareholders in the Caledonian miue with Mr Rowe, the manager. The mine is still looking well. The Poverty aud Charleston mines have taken out very rich stone. The Golden Lion has taken out a hundredweight of specimens. The Albrunia obtained some magnificent specimens, and the mine is looking well, The Bass Rock claim has taken out some rich stone. The Junction is crushing from a new reef. Bird, charged with stealing specimens from the Nonpariel claim ; the case is going on. Dunedin, June 3. Flour saleable at Lls. Wheat easily disposable at 5s 9cl to 6s. Oats without improvement, 2s 3d to 2s sd. Malting barley, $s 9d to 4s. It is repovted that Mr C. Brown and Dr Menzies join the Executive, unofficial. Jerusalem Smythie's tender has been accepted for the plutha Line at L 21,000, being L9OOO below the estimate. Nothing has been done anent the University Council dispute pending the arrival of members from the North, per Phoebe. The point of difference between the two Councils is not wide, and there are good i reasons to believe they will amalgamate. At a meeting of the inhabitants at Oamaru, it was resolved to petition immediately for the construction of a main line of railway between Waitaki and Moeraki.
