QUEEN OF THE THAMES NOT LOST

Nelson, June 2. The San Francisco papers have arrived here. No particulars of the loss of the Queen of the Thames beyond the following are to hand : — "On April 25th there was a report in London, which has since been proved to be unfounded, that the steamer Queen of the Thames, from Melbourne for London, is lost, and many passengers drowned." I find that the Queen left Melbourne on the 18th February, with 96 saloon passengers, 87 second cabin, and 20 third class, according to the list of passengers in the Melbourne Argus of the 20th February. No additional news of interest beyond that already telegraphed from Tauranga. The Phoebe has left for the South. Oamaru, June 2. In the produce market to-day wheat met with a ready sale at 4s 9d, but is now held for ss ; oats, Is 9d to 2s ; barley (first class), 3s 6d ; flour Ll4 to Ll4 10s ; potatoes, from LI 10s to L 2 per ton.
