There were no arrivals or departures at this port yesterday. The p.«. Charles Edward is expected this morning from Nelson, &c, and is announced to sail for Westport and Nelson this afternoon. She will forward passengers to Auckland and all other New Zealand ports. The s s. Waipara did not arrive y«sterday, having been detained at Hokitika to tender the Omeo. She will bo here early this morniug, an:l is announced to sail on to-day's tide for Martin's Bay and intermediate ports. The day of sailing of the brig Magnet, for Melbourne, is altered until to-morrow, when she will leave the wharf at 2 p.m. She has good accommodation for passengers. A telegram from Auckland in the Daily Times, says:— The Nebraska follows the Nevada. She will go on to Sydney from Auckland, bwt her successors will resume the coasting voyage to Port Chalmers. They will for the present only run as far as Honolulu, connecting with the Moses Ta3'lor, until the Dacotah comes round from New York, when they will run right through to San Francisco. Henderson and Macfarlaue, Auckland, are the agents. A recent letter from Wellington states that the original members of the Wreck Recovery Company— some seven or eight in number -are now forming a new Company which will probably be termed the New Zealand Steamship Company, to buy the Taranaki and Wellington, and run them. The Taranaki has indeed, I believe, been formally sold to the new Company, which will comprise all the old shareholders and a few new ones in this and the other Provinces. Ever since she commencKcl to run, the Taranaki has paid well, and there can be little doubt that the Wellington will do 80 too. The Wreck Recovery Company has been in every way fortunate. The mauager, Mr Hartmann, is an excellent man of business, and manages capitally ; while Captain Wheeler's popularity as a commander is well known. Under the same management and the command of Captain Kennedy, the Wellington will soon establish herself as an equal favorite with the Tarauaki. Captain Kennedy has already been sent for to take command, aud Mr Hosa; ck, late chief engineer of the Airedale, lias also been appointed iv a similar capacity to the Wellington. As soon as the captain arrives the Wellington will be sent down to Port Chalmers to be docked. In the meantime, some necessary repairs are being effected here. While laid up she has been kept in capital order by liquidators of the N.Z.S N. Co. The shareholders in this company congratulate themselves a good deal on the unexpected good price realised by the Wellington and Ahuriri.
