PAROA ROAD BOARD.
[to the editor.] Sbe — Mr John Power's first extraordinary effusion merited the ridicule cast upon it. The nefarious " Old Badger" is doubtful about his witticisms, but confident of there being some point to his satire, and the tone of Mr Power's present letter certifies to the fact. 1 replied to the actual questions put in his former production, " Seriatim," but in the one before me fail to find anything but unwarrantable accusations and low invectives, save an inuendo to the effect that Mr Colton's now celebrated vote of thanks was of my own "fulsome coinage." Mr Editor, my irascible friend admits the fact of Mr Col ton moving the vote of thanks, and that Mr Dowling laughingly seconded it. To quote his very words, he "was in the Board Room at the time, and can vouch for the assertion." In my last I challenged the Chairman and other three members of the Board to deny any of my assertions. Their continued silence is ominous. You Mr Editor, must be in possession of all the facts connected with this case. Have I trenched in any way upon the truth ? Allow nic to reiterate the offensive passages contained in my letter of April 3rd, "That Mr Colton proposed a vote of thanks to Mr John Hurst for the satisfactory manner in which he had conducted the duties of his office during the last two years, and that the motion was seconded by Mr Michael Dowling." 1 am. sorry that the result of Mr Powers query proved so very unsatisfactory, and trust that it will not deprive the public of his contemplated " brief criticisms." If they fail to instruct, they will, no doubt, prove amusing. I decline to discuss the question any longer, and thanking this champion of ihe bruth ior i&e courteous and gentlemanly manner in which he has conducted his correspondence, beg to subscribe myself as A MOST INTOLEEABLE OLD BADGER.
