New York, March 15. The East Lothian is loading for Auckland, and will load back with flax. Little business was doing in flax. The cargo brought by the East Lothian is in storr. Small sales have been made via London at 9 to 9£ cents. London advices to the Ist March state that the produce market shows a want of activity, and transactions are moderate. The wool sales closed without much change ; the competition was active, and there was a slight advance on October and November sales. Hides in demand ; Australian, 5d to ss d. Australian leather, Is 4d advance. Tallow firmer— 33s 9d to 43s 6d for sheep's ; 36s 3d to 41s 8d for beef. Colonial securities steady. A slight advance in New Zealand sixes March And September. London letter of the Ist says that the series of wool sales terminated February 28, on which occasion 104,600 bales were offered, and nearly all sold. The attendance was good, and there were more Foreign buyers than at the last salesPrices opened with an upward tendency, but the only description where an advance can be quoted are good scoured and greasy, but prices closed steady and firm. New Zealaud wools were in good demand throughout.

Flax, early in the month the sales were dull, and a decline of from L 2 to L 4 per ton occurred ; the sale of 2011 bales is quoted at Ll4 to L 23. The latest report is that flax is very firm.

Bismarck offered to abandon Lorraine and Alsace, for an indemnity of one and a-half milliards of francs.
