Rangitoto, from Melbourne. Ceres, from Melbourne. Jane Ann, from Kaiapoi, VESSELS IN PORT. Kennedy, from Hokitika. Dispatch, tug-steamer. Redcliffe, from Dunedin. Queen, from Manakau. Garibaldi, from Hokitika. Jane Ann, from Kaiapoi.

The only shipping events yesterday were the departures of the s.s. Waipara for Hokitika, and the s.s. Murray for Westport. The s.s. Phosbe arrived at Nelson yesterday morning, from Auckland, with the English mail via San Francisco. The West Coast portion of the mail will be brought on here by the p. s. Charles Edward, which leaves Nelson on Tuesday morning, at five o'clock. A local bteara Navigation Company has been inaugurated in New Plymouth. The object of this movement is to establish steam communication between tho town of New Plymouth and the important district of which the river Waitara is the outlet. The s.s. Go-a-head, long used on the Auckland-Thames trade, has been purchased for this Eervice. Captain Doile, formerly of the s.s. Storm Bird, has been appointed to the command, and will bring her round from Auckland, via Tauranga and Wellington, calling at Manawatu and Wanganui on her way.
