In the fourth set, Douglas, Otago, 39 ; Christie, Otago, 33 ; Wood, Wellington, 31 ; Adam, Otago, 29 ; Reid, Otago, 29. March 10. In the fifth set, Christie, Otago, made 51 ; Grey, Marlborough, 50 ; Milne, Wellington, 48 ; Meltsop, Auckland, 48 ; Leary, Marlborough, 47. In the cadet second set, Corry, Christchurch, made 31 ; Wood, Wellington, 30 ; Chuck, Marlborough, 29 ; Patton, Christchurch, 28 ; C. Reid, Otago, 27. The schooner Kauri is missing. She left Temuka, for Auckland, on the Bth February. Passengers — Messrs Lawford, Yates, and Kelverton. Arrived — Steamer James Patterson, from Fiji. Blenheim, March 14. The following are the results of the Wairau Races : — Maiden Plate — Grimstone's Azalea, 1 ; Redwood's Anticipation, 2 ; Shearer's' Maxted, 3. Spring Wairau Plate — Redwood's Songstress, 3 ; Grimstone's Azalea, 2. Ladies Purse — Shepherd's Golden Eagle? 1 ; Maxwell's Dutchman, 2. | Spit, March 14. Timothy Jones, a private in the Armed Constabulary, was drowned on the 3rd inst., while crossing the Wairoa River in a canoe. His body was found on the 10th, and an inquest is to be held. The steamer Napier is ashore at Wairoa. Her cargo was landed. The vessel, as yet, is uninjured. The Ngatiporou have returned to Wairoa after an unsuccessful search for Te Kooti.
