RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT, NAPOLEON.
March 9. (Before C. Whitefoord, Esq., R.M.) The Bailiff v. Harvey and Newman, in re M'Laughlin v. Harris. — This was an interpleader summons to try the ownership of certain property seized by the bailiff of the Court to satisfy a judgment given for the plaintiff in the case James M'Laughlin v. Jacob Haris, tried last Court day. The property seized consisted of watches, jewelry, an opera glass, watchmakers' tools and material, &c. W. Harvey proved that he left one of the watches produced to be repaired at Harris' shop. The watch was given up to him by order of the Court. Eudolph Newman claimed the other watch and the opera glass as his property' by virtue of purchase from Jacob Beaver. He proved his claim, and the property was given to him. Edward Quirk v. J. Main.— A claim for Ll9 10s for work done in a claim at Orwell Creek. The defendant is a shareholder in Clarke and Evans' leasehold, and the plaintiff was put on to work by the manager of the company to represent Main's share. An objection was made that the case should have been brought in the Warden's Court. The Court held the objection to be good, and directed the plaintiff to sue in the Warden's Court. Nonsuited with costs. Mr Guinness appeared for the defendant. Thompson v. Mathews. — A claim for L 3 3s for attendance as a nurse. The defendant paid the amount of the demand into Court. Tha Court was adjourned for one month.
