Grey River Argus Office, Thursday evening. The amount of revenue received at the C Jstoms on goods passed for home consumption to-day was £40 13s 7d. Melbourne.— The Argus of the 25th ult. reports : — There has been more doing in the import markets to-day A much improved inquiry has been experienced in general trade, and sales have been more numerous than for some time past. In breadstuff's, flour does ,no show much activity. Business in thp market is still much restricted, and sales, as a rale, are limited to the disposal of trade Earcels. Quotations are steady at Ll4 to .14 5s per ton, or 14s to 14s 3d. per cental. Lower rates have to be taken when sales are forced at auction. A parcel was thus sold at Ll3 128 6d per ton, or 13s 7£d per cental. There is a good demand for Adelaide wheat, and moderate-sized parcels are placed at 6s per bushel or lOd per cental. A line of 2500 bushels Port MacDonnell was cleared off on private Jerm<?. Under the hammer, some 300 bsgß Port MacDonnell were quitted at up to 5s Bfcd per bushel, or 9s 6Jd per cental. In oats we note a better demand and larger sales. A very prime parcel was quitted at 3s 9d per bushel, or 9s 4£d per cental ; and some 800 hags, in parcels, were disposed of at 3d 8d to 3s 9d per bushel, or 9s 2d to 9s 4Jd per cental Malting barley is very saleable at up to 4s 4d, according to quality. A ship.n>nt of 600 bags was quitted on terms withheld. For maize there is a good demand at 4s 9d to 4s lOd per bushel, or 8s s|d to 8s 7d per cental ; and amongst the sales reported we hear of some 700 bags having changed hands of one shipment. A parcel of Adelaide pollard was quitted at Is 2d. Sales of malt came under our notice at 7s 6d per bushel, or 18s 9d per cental. The public sales of tea attracted a good deal of attention. The congous ex Corypheus, about 1502 packages, chestß, half-chests, and boxes, were quitted at from 1 to Is sd; this description of low to common congous being wanted, sales were readily effected. The fine teas per Isabella Brown were also offered as adyertised.ibut they had all to be withdrawn again, as not the slightest desire to purchase was evinced by the dealers. Fancy teas, ex Oorypheus, about 443 packages, were disposed of at Is 4d to Is 6Jd for SO pekoe; gunpowder sold ao Is ll^d, young hyson at Is ll|d, and hysonskin at 8d perlb in bond. Some 300 half-chests fine congous were sold privately at Is lid to 2s 2d In sugars, some 819 ba^s damaged Honolulu were got rid of at prices ranging from L 27 15s to L3l. We continue to hear of a gcod demand. Privately, about 800 bags were quitted at L4O for yellow to L 42 for good whites The cargo of the Anais, comprising 5000 bags and mats from Reunion, will be offered on Friday. Kerosene
oil is more enquired for. Trade parcels have been sold at 2s 7d, and a line of 600 cases Brilliant was placed at 2s 7d. We also learn of some 7000 cases Brilliant having been sold to arrive, on private terms. A parcel of Kent hops was placed at a concession on Is 4d. Sales of Childrey and Jones's tens tobaccoes are mentioned at Is 2d,
